After the recent weather events that hit the upper North Island, we have been receiving a lot of calls, emails, and cancellations – we would love to let you know that although one part of State Highway at the bottom of the peninsula is inaccessible at this point in time, we and the rest of Coromandel are open and ready for our guests return!
Our holiday park had a little bit of surface flooding (expected with at least 400% of normal January rainfall) – and luckily no issues with any sites, units, or facilities in the park. Come enjoy the park-like grounds, heated pool, and SUNSETS.
Coromandel township also was perfectly fine apart from being closed off from a few slips on the main routes during the heavy rain events. You can now travel directly to Coromandel down the Pohutakawa-lined Thames Coast road.
Currently, as of 7th February, our only major road closure on the peninsula is the Kopu-Hikuai SH25a, but you can still access the bottom of the peninsula via Waihi & Whangamata. Our local tourism body, Destination Hauraki-Coromandel has put together an updated travel time map that shows the closures.
