SWIMMING POOL
Our popular addition to our park is our Heated Swimming Pool and Splash Zone which has been a huge hit so far. With a purpose-built toddler waddle pool, safe for the little ones, and our main pool which slopes down to 1.9 metres in the deep end.
The pool is solar heated all year round by the sun (renewable energy – so the less sun we see the cooler it is), and temperature is topped up by heat pumps* (usually heated to around 28 – 30 degrees) so makes an easy and refreshing dip! During off-peak we have turned off units to reduce our Carbon Footprint.
* Update August 2023: Due to demand pool is now heated by Solar & Heat Pump all year round.
BEACHFRONT LOCATION
Right on our front doorstep is the beautiful Kikowhakarere Bay – perfect for exploring, gathering Kai Moana (Seafood) and swimming.
The tidal bay is best to swim at high tide and is usually very warm due to its depth. Very safe for swimming with kids, or exploring with kayak or paddleboards.
At low tide, you can walk around to Tucks Bay and complete the Shelly Beach Kauri Walkway Loop (approx. 90 minutes return). If you are a fan of Cockles or Pipi’s – the bay has an abundance of shellfish – we kindly ask you to respect limits and legal limits so it can be enjoyed by future generations.
EPIC SUNSETS
Located on the western side of the Coromandel peninsula we are in the best spot to watch the sun slowly set across the Hauraki Gulf, we are treated to beautiful islands out from the park which make for picture-perfect sunsets.
The beachfront area is often a central meeting spot at sunset for our guests. The best way to end a day with beautiful views and company!
UNREAL STARGAZING SKIES
We are in a prime location with minimal light pollution to experience some of the best stargazing you can get. After you experience a Shelly Beach sunset, watch the skies light up and the constellations appear.
In June-July – experiencing the reappearance of the Matariki stars signals the beginning of the Māori New Year.
TV LOUNGE & DINING ROOM
A great spot to chill out – equipped with a 70″ television with Sky TV and some couches, plus a fireplace to keep you cozy in winter.
This is also our dining area, with a selection of tables and chairs to use to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Plenty of powerpoints are available for charging devices for those who don’t have powered options.
LARGE KITCHEN
The central point of the park has a large kitchen, which is usually a hive of activity during busier times.
The kitchen is equipped with gas hobs, an electric oven, microwave, electric jugs and a hot water zip. A filtered water tap is available here too.
Two large glass display fridges are available to store your chilled items, plus a freezer for general items and a bait freezer for guests with bait.
We supply dishwash detergent and a selection of wash brushes, dish clothes and tea towels so you don’t need to bring your own.
For cutlery, plates and pots etc, we don’t have readily available in the kitchen anymore but are available for hire from reception.
FREE HOT SHOWERS & TOILETS
We have two toilet and shower blocks available for our guests.
All our showers are free, hot and untimed. We ask guests to be mindful of water usage as part of our sustainability policy.
We have male, female and family-style bathrooms, with hair dryers available in the main bathrooms.
COMPLIMENTARY GUEST WIFI
Due to our remote location, we don’t have the world’s fastest internet speeds but do offer all guests daily complimentary internet.
Speeds and limits might apply, but additional data and increased speeds can be purchased from within our Guest WiFi portal.
Limited Cellphone reception is available in the park – the closer to the beach the better the coverage.
ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING
As part of our sustainability policy, we have 2x Faster EV Electric Vehicle chargers available for guests use (charges do apply). For more information visit here.
ON-SITE SHOP, ICE & BAIT SUPPLIES
We have a small onsite shop with supplies to keep you going during your stay with us.
Basic Food Supplies, Toiletries, Sunscreens, Repellants, Streets Ice Creams, Cold Drinks, Ice, Salt Ice and Bait – so you don’t need to leave the park.
Coromandel Town has a great Four Square, just over 5-minutes up the road which has all your groceries needs.
FISH FILLETING & BOAT WASH AREA
Fishing and boating are a big part of the Coromandel experience – we have the Hauraki Gulf right on our doorstep. Bring your boat or jetski, our closest boat ramp is 2-minutes around the corner at Oamaru Bay.
If you are successful on the water we have a dedicated fish filleting area for your use. We do ask that frames are returned back to the ocean.
Boats or Jetski can also have a quick flush of salt water at our boat flush area – please note, due to our water supply we encourage to reduce water usage and limit washing whole vessels but a spray over is fine.
GUEST LAUNDRY
Sadly there is no escaping washing, even when on holiday. We have a dedicated guest laundry with coin-operated top loader and front loader washing machines plus electric dryers available for your use. Also, there are large outdoor clothes lines available outside the laundry.
Bring your own coins, or we can exchange notes or do cash out at reception during office hours.
DUMP STATIONS, RUBBISH & RECYCLING
We encourage guests to recycle and reduce waste where possible. Throughout the park, we have recycling points for plastics, cardboard and glass.
For our guests with motorhomes and caravans, we have a dedicated dump station for disposing of your grey and black waste. Located by the 2nd toilet block. Easily accessed by vehicles.

KIDS INTERACTIVE TOPPY TREASURE HUNT

PEAK PERIODS: OPEN AIR OUTDOOR MOVIES
During peak periods, we set up our outdoor movies on the beachfront. As the sunsets over the bay, the projector and sound system fire up to screen family friend classics. Memory-making stuff, as you watch something on the big screen with the stars in the sky.
Bring something warm, a blanket, a chair and some snacks to make this extra memorable.
Follow our Facebook Page to see when we have the projector screens.
CHRISTMAS-NEW YEARS: HOLIDAY PROGRAMME
Each year, we usually have “On the Edge” come to visit and put on a free Christian-based Holiday Programme for our younger guests.
The programme is usually a mixture of fun-filled activities, including a sports day, sandcastle competitions, quiz nights, plus arts and crafts.
This will be advertised on our Facebook page once confirmed and daily activities advertised within the park.
EASTER: EASTER EGG HUNT
Our first year of hosting the Great Kiwi Easter Egg hunt was put on by TOP 10 Holiday Park Group in 2022. It was a great success, so we aim to continue this tradition every Easter.
Toppy takes the kids on a walk through the park to a hidden spot for a hunt for over 400 Easter Eggs!
WINTER PERIODS: OUTDOOR FIRE PIT
Built during our first Covid lockdown, we have reclaimed bricks and logs positioned to create the ultimate Camping Experience with our Outdoor Fire Pit.
Bring your own marshmallows (or purchase from our shop), and let our friendly team members know and we will light the pit for you with instructions on usage.
